Lord David Alton

For 18 years David Alton was a Member of the House of Commons and today is an independent Crossbench Life Peer.

He began his career as a teacher but, in 1972, he was elected to Liverpool City Council as Britain’s youngest City Councillor. He became the youngest member of the House of Commons in 1979 and, in 1997, David was made a Life Peer of the House of Lords.

 

Gideon Ben-Tovim

Former elected member of Liverpool City Council and former Chair of the Liverpool Primary Care Trust Board.

Gideon is the author of various books, reports and articles in the fields of race relations, regeneration, local government and education. He is now the Chair of Nature Connected, a new green partnership bringing together public, private and Third Sector organisations to help reap the benefits of the natural environment for people, wildlife and the economy.
