2017: The NWPAs - Judge’s Special Award
In our 15th anniversary year HPBC, and after completing the 32 homes on Kingsley Road / Alt Street, we received a special award for our pioneering ‘sweat equity’ initiative and our work creating affordable homes in the city of Liverpool. The North West Property Awards highlight excellence in the northwest property industry.
Rev Canon Dr Shannon Ledbetter, our founder and Chair of HPBC, said:
“It’s absolutely amazing that we’ve won this award. It’s testimony to the thousands of people and supporters who have believed in us from the very beginning. 2016 Build It Awards - Best Collective or Group Self Build Project
Organisers said:
'The winning scheme was lauded by the judges for several reasons, but in particular they were impressed that these affordable self-build homes were realised through a combination of sweat equity and shared ownership, giving first-time buyers a foot on the housing ladder, as well as creating an overwhelming level of community and neighbourly spirit.'
2015 Builder and Engineer Awards
The Kingsley Road project was Highly Commended in the category of Housing Project of the Year, narrowly missing out on first place to a larger development in London.
2015 Inside Housing Top 60 Developments
After being named one of the Top 60 developments in the UK during the year, our Kingsley Road project was a finalist for Affordable Housing Development of the Year, a category eventually won by a £1bn new town in Devon.
John Hocking, executive director, Joseph Rowntree Housing Trust, and one of the award judges said:
